Day 1 of 40

Psalms 27:7

7 Hear me, LORD, when I call to you! Be merciful and answer me!

Psalms 27:9

9 Don't hide yourself from me! Don't be angry with me; don't turn your servant away. You have been my help; don't leave me, don't abandon me, O God, my savior.

Psalms 27:12

12 Don't abandon me to my enemies, who attack me with lies and threats.

PRAY: God, connect with me here, as I seek you in your Word.

REFLECT: Why does it seem that God is slow in answering our cries? At what point during your crisis do you turn to God? Do you try to fix things yourself? Do you think God hides from you when you are in trouble? What gives you hope that God will not abandon you?

RESPOND: Ask God to give assurance to those who are victimized that he is ever near them and that he is ready to save them.

Lord, you are our only help. Deliver us from all that would seek to undermine our faith in you. Help us to remember that you are always with us.

Getting the most from God's Word

As you embark on this Journey, here are four steps to invite God's Word to challenge and encourage you.

  1. Pray

Pray with focus and openness to see what God has for you. God, connect with me here, as I seek You in your Word.

  2. Read

Read the selected section of scripture slowly. Take note of intriguing words and phrases. Read them a second time.

  3. Reflect

Reflect on what strikes you as you read. What does this passage of Scripture teach you about God's values?

  4. Respond

Respond to the passage. Speak to God directly about what's on your mind and hear. Look for ways to live out what you've uncovered.
