Day 1 of 7

Love & the Outcome

2 Corinthians 12.9

9But his answer was: “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me.

Introduction

King of My Heart

Thank you for joining us as we check out a song from “Love & the Outcome” and dig into the Bible. When the battle is raging around you, how do you respond? When life is crazy, why should we turn to Jesus? Jodi and Chris sing an answer that question in their song, “King of my Heart.” Let’s listen to that song and then read a passage from the apostle Paul.

2 Corinthians 12.7-10

7But to keep me from being puffed up with pride because of the many wonderful things I saw, I was given a painful physical ailment, which acts as Satan's messenger to beat me and keep me from being proud.8Three times I prayed to the Lord about this and asked him to take it away.9But his answer was: “My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak.” I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me.10I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Reflection:

  • When is Paul most happy? Why?
  • What does it look like when you are weak and Jesus is strong? Why is that a good thing in the midst of our battles?
  • What is an area where you need to be weak so that Jesus can be strong? Ask Jesus to be strong in that area. Give him control and ask for him to lead you.
